Matthew Davenport has been supporting Manchester Royal Eye Hospital with a number of fundraising events following treatment his two sons have received for a genetic eye condition called X- linked retinoschisis.
Matthew decided he wanted to help make a difference and hopped on his bike to cycle from Slovenia to Oldham! Cycling over 11 days, Matthew was joined by friends and were known as Blazzing saddles as they peddaled across seven countries, covering a distance of 1,300 miles.
Friend Martin Burke also got involved helping to organise Laughter for Sight, a comedy evening at the Masonic Hall in Rochdale. Compared by Malcolm Lord, over 100 guests enjoyed entertainment by Rudi West, a three course meal and stand-up Bingo! Martin and Matthew would like to thank GNG Form Converters for donating the Manchester United Executive Tickets which went for over £500 in the auction, and also Prime Roofing and Andy Francis for their support.
Matthew's pedal power and comedy night helped to raise over £6,000 for the hospital and he's not stopping there - having decided to take part in the London and Manchester Marathons! Good Luck Matthew!
