Thanks to the amazing charitable donations that local and national businesses have provided to Manchester Foundation Trust Charity, wellbeing packages have been produced for our hardworking and committed NHS Staff within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

To support the wellbeing of staff, and as a thank you for their dedication, the packs will be issued twice a week and will contain non-perishable food items, toiletries, clothing and treats.

Marquees to host the packs have been set up across Oxford Road Campus, Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General Hospital and are available to staff from today (Friday 27th March).

The Trust Charity has received thousands of generous donations so far and your help will be needed in the coming weeks to sustain these donations for our deserving colleagues. Click here for further information regarding the specific supplies needed in the next few weeks to support our staff.

The co-ordination of the packages is led by the MFT Charity team with infection control overseeing the distribution to ensure the safety of our staff and patients. Each week, the content of the packages will change depending on which supplies are available.

MFT Group Chief Nurse Cheryl Lenney said; “Businesses in our community want to give back and are reaching out to us daily to show their support and solidarity to our NHS workers across the Trust.

“In these unprecedented times, these packs not only provide valuable supplies but also remind colleagues of how grateful people are for the vital work they are providing to care for those most in need.

“Our workforce has really pulled together to ensure that our hospital family can continue to care for yours. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. This generosity really does make a difference to our hard-working team at this time. ”

Businesses including Manchester United Foundation, JD Sports, Foot Asylum, PZ Cussons and Kelloggs were some of the first to show their support. Details of all those who have donated can be found here.

MFT Chairman, Kathy Cowell OBE DL said; “These donations will be very much appreciated by our dedicated, exceptional teams of professionals across the Trust who are working so hard to keep everyone safe at this busy time.

“The MFT Charity team has been working incredibly hard to make this possible to support the wellbeing of our committed NHS workforce. These gestures will go a long way to support our colleagues at MFT so thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

“We couldn’t do this without the generosity of local businesses and we welcome any further donations. If you would like to support this campaign, please visit the MFT Charity website for a full list of suitable items.”

As one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, MFT has more than 20,000 staff working across nine hospitals and community services in Manchester and Trafford. The Charity has also set up a fundraising appeal to support the wellbeing of the Trust’s frontline workers. To make a cash donation, please click here.
