Charitable Trusts and Foundations
Our Charity raises funds to ensure continued excellence in treatment, research and care – enhancing the lives of the over 2million patients our family of 10 hospitals treats each year. We support a wide range of projects designed to help patients and their families, some of whom will be facing the most difficult time of their life.
This work requires long-term investment and the support we receive from Charitable Trusts and Foundations is instrumental to achieving our goals.
Together, we can make a difference by supporting:
Treatment – Ensuring that our hospitals have cutting-edge equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of our patients, giving them access to world-class care.
Research – Medical research has played a critical role in developing the standard of healthcare that is so often taken for granted today, from antibiotics to the bionic eye. Our research projects aim to pioneer new ways to prevent, treat and cure a range of conditions, from complex long-term, life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
Care – Visiting hospital and meeting doctors and nurses can be a daunting experience for any patient. Ensuring the surroundings are comfortable and calming can help to remove some of the anxiety patients of all ages feel.
We have a dedicated team who work with Charitable Trusts to ensure our projects match your aims and objectives. Every step of the way, we will keep you updated about the difference your support is making to our patients and their families. To discuss our work and the difference we can make together, please contact Terri Torevell – Trusts and Foundations Manager – on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0161 276 4522.

We value working in partnership with our generous funders and we have a range of ‘live’ projects that you could contribute to. Alternatively, we are happy to collaborate with Charitable Trusts to identify a project that more closely aligns with your aims and interests. We’d be happy to meet with you and could arrange a tour of any of our 10 hospitals to find an area where you feel your funding could achieve your aims while making a difference to our patients and their families.
Our team is experienced at producing reports that demonstrate what has been made possible through charitable funding. We are committed to the reporting requirements of our funders and will provide timely, meaningful updates at agreed points. It may also possible to arrange a visit so you’re able to see first-hand the impact your donation has made.
We will work with you to communicate your support in whichever way you wish. If you would like your gift to remain anonymous, we will not include details of it in any of our communication channels, including on our website, social media or in our Annual Report or Impact Reports. Alternatively, you can choose which channels you would like us to publicise your support.
Manchester Foundation Trust Charity has policies for recognising charitable support in our hospitals and these can be shared with Charitable Trusts when considering making a donation.
The majority of reserves in any one year are restricted to specific projects, priorities or units within the wards of our family of hospitals. You can read our full reserves policy in our latest audited accounts.
Our primary aim is to spend as much as possible on our vital services to help support patients across our family of hospitals. We are very mindful of how we spend our money – 75p in every £1 goes straight to Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust’s vital services and 25p goes to fund the running and development of our Charity. This breakdown is standard practice across the charitable sector and comparable to other NHS charities of our size.
