Beacon Announcement
On Tuesday 04 August, we were informed by Beacon, the database provider we use to manage our charity activities and supporter information, that it had experienced unauthorised access to its systems. Beacon is investigating the incident, and we are reviewing the details available to us to understand its potential impact, including what information may have been affected.
At this stage, we have been advised that information held within our charity database may potentially have been accessed. Depending on a supporter’s relationship with MFT Charity, this may include information such as names, contact details, donation history, Gift Aid information, communication preferences and records of correspondence.
We want to reassure our supporters that:
- This incident does not involve NHS patient data.
- Our charity database does not contain bank account numbers, sort codes, full payment card numbers or card security codes. These payment details are stored separately and have not been affected.
- We do not yet have confirmation of which specific records, if any, were accessed or downloaded.
- There is currently no evidence that any personal information has been published or misused.
Protecting the information entrusted to us is extremely important, and we are taking this matter very seriously. We will continue to review the available information and will contact supporters directly only if we identify that their information has been affected and that any further action is required.
In the meantime, we recommend that our supporters remain alert to unexpected emails, text messages or phone calls claiming to be from MFT Charity or asking for personal or financial information. Please do not click on links or provide information unless you are confident that a communication is genuine.
If you have any questions or concerns about this incident, please contact us at charity@mft.nhs.uk
Alternatively, you can call us on 0161 276 4522, Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
