Guests attending this February’s Discovery Ball, in support of Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, are set to see ‘Stars’ with an exclusive headline performance from Manchester singing legend Mick Hucknall.

This will be the Simply Red singer’s only Manchester performance this year and Mick Hucknall will be joined at the ANS sponsored event, being held at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester on Saturday 8th February, by an array of famous mancunians.

Broadcasting legends Richard and Judy will be hosting the star studded event.  Before Mick, one of the finest male vocalists in Britain, takes to the stage guests will enjoy performances from comedian Dave Spikey and another surprise Manchester act.

The glittering fundraising event will see guests enjoying a luxury dinner, a spectacular auction with some money can’t buy prizes and even more music from legendary Hacienda DJ Dave Haslam.

The Charity is hoping to raise £120,000 on the night of the event to support the expansion of the hospital’s world-class children’s clinical research facility. The facility treats children not only from Manchester, but also across the world and conducts leading research into childhood illnesses including many life limiting conditions.

Headline star Mick Hucknall commented:

“I am really looking forward to coming back to Manchester to perform at the Discovery Ball.  As a proud mancunian I was more than happy to get involved and lend my support to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.  The event is supporting a very special project which will make a difference to the lives of children across the North West and beyond. ”

Manchester-based Infrastructure and Managed Services specialists ANS are the event’s headline sponsor. Passionate about engaging their staff in their varied CSR programme, which includes fundraising, environmental initiatives and voluntary work as well as sponsorship, ANS also fosters young talent through their Cloud Academy – a yearlong IT apprenticeship programme that offers both structured training and real hands-on experience.

A long-time supporter of the hospital Scott Fletcher, CEO of ANS, said:

“It’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to be part of such a special event. The Discovery Ball supports Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and it is hugely valuable for raising money and creating awareness. For us, getting involved in this event isn’t about ‘giving back’ – it’s about just being a part of our own community and taking any opportunity we can to offer support to those around us.”

Only a few tickets remain at the star-studded event. Tickets start at £150+VAT with limited tables of up to 10 available. For enquiries or for further information please contact Dara on 0161 831 0250 or email dara@journey9.com.
