Pyjama Walk

This September, we’re inviting you to get comfy in your pyjamas, onsies or dressing gowns and join us for a 5km sponsored fun walk around Heaton Park!

The family-friendly, accessible route will start with a lively warm up and feature entertainment along the way. There’s even a family discount on tickets, making it a perfect day out for young families.

In addition to the 5km sponsored walk, we’ll have a selection of fun activities for children and families to enjoy on arrival, as well as a fun scavenger hunt along the route! Please note that these activities will have a small fee, with all proceeds directly supporting our charity.

The Difference You Can Make

For children in hospital, play is medicine too. A stay in hospital can feel frightening, confusing and overwhelming.

Our specialist Therapeutic Play Team use games, toys, arts and crafts, sensory activities and imaginative play to help children understand what’s happening, feel less anxious and cope with treatments and procedures. Play can help explain an operation, distract a child during treatment, or simply provide a welcome escape from the worries of being in hospital. It also helps children feel more comfortable, more confident and more like themselves during a difficult time.

Your support will help us provide therapeutic play activities, equipment and resources that bring comfort, reassurance and smiles to children across Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and its satellite
services at Wythenshawe Hospital, Trafford General Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital.

Every step you take and every pound you raise by taking part in this Pyjama Walk will help children experience the power of play when they need it most.
