Game Your Way: SON vs MUM

One’s a FIFA aficionado and console connoisseur, the other is a noob who remembers Tetris the first time round.

Now they’re going head-to-head in a SON vs MOM battle to see if gaming is in the genes, or if family feuds ensue.

Noah Harris will be teaching mum Angela Rowe to game in a series of challenges on Wednesday 10^th August, with each competition being livestreamed via Twitch.

The duel is part of Game Your Way, a new fundraising initiative run by Manchester Foundation Trust Charity, and all funds raised during their head-to-head will benefit NHS hospitals across Greater Manchester.

Battle commences at 7.45pm and the more money raised, the longer the challenge will go on.

Noah, 20, said: “The temptation would be to go easy on my mum, especially in the beginning, but I won’t be doing that! I’m taking this challenge very seriously.

“She really is a novice so she is starting from scratch. I know she likes playing Solitaire on her phone but that’s about as close as she’s come to any type of gaming.

“We are very close and I do think this is going to be a good laugh. I hope we can raise quite a bit of money, but we’re just going to see how it goes.”

The cause is close to their hearts as Angela is the Senior Manager of Community Fundraising at Manchester Foundation Trust Charity. Having worked at the Charity for more than 12 years, Angela has seen first hand all the incredible treatment, research and care projects the Charity funds at its 10 NHS hospitals.

Angela said: “We’ve staggered the fundraising so as we reach different goals we will do different challenges. The ultimate goal will be to raise £300 which will see me attempting the final flight from Top Gun: Maverick in VTOL VR.

“I much prefer real planes when I’m a passenger heading out on a holiday – being in control of one, even a VR one, is completely different and bound to be a disaster.

“But I’m not in it to set the scoreboard alight, its just a great excuse to have a laugh with my son while raising money for a brilliant cause.”

The duo have listed games on their JustGiving Page that viewers of the livestream can vote for. Noah will teach Angela the games which get the most votes. Included in the list is: FIFA 22, Speedrunners and Thrill of the Fight.
