Kids’ Hospital at Christmas

Angela
Monday 08th December 2014

Starting on Tuesday 9th December you will be able to see and hear some of the remarkable stories of our brave patients on Channel 5 in Kids' Hospital at Christmas.

Kids' Hospital at Christmas follows staff and patients of Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and even follows the charity team by following our very own Christmas Elf - Angela Rowe, Community Fundraising Manager - who is on a mission to make sure sure every child receives a present at Christmas.

The cameras captured visits from Father Christmas, presents being dropped off from the local community, nativity plays and carols concerts as well as the heart warming stories of children and their families and the daily medical dramas they face with courage.

The first episode features the story of 15-year-old Emily who faces the possibility of Christmas Day in hospital. She has a rare genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. It affects her joints and muscles and means she has needed a wheelchair since the age of 10. Emily is allowed home for just two hours to decorate the family Christmas tree thanks to her parents being trained in resuscitation - a skill they must have if their daughter is to get home.

The prpgramme also features Hya, ared 8, who has a 50-50 chance of survival when undergoing kidney transplant surgery using a kidney donated from her mother.

Plus you will also see Angela on the start of her mission to make sure that a very special santa can deliver presents on Christmas Eve.

Tune in from 9pm on Channel 5 to see the stories unfold.  To make a donation to help Angela on her Christmas gift mission this year please visit CLICK HERE.
