Manchester Foundation Trust Charity wins ‘Organisation Making a Difference’ Award at This is Manchester Awards
We are so honoured to have taken home the ‘Organisation Making a Difference’ award at this year’s This is Manchester Awards.
The annual This is Manchester Awards celebrate the best of the city, championing the outstanding individuals, businesses and organisations that help shape Manchester’s identity and contribute to its success. Recognising achievements across industries including sport, entertainment, fashion and hospitality, the awards also shine a spotlight on those making a meaningful difference to communities across Manchester and beyond.
The award recognises our work in bringing communities together to support better healthcare and improve the experiences of patients and their families.
As the official charity of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, we raise funds to support the Trust’s ten hospitals, which provide care to almost one million people across Manchester and Trafford. Through the generosity of supporters, MFT Charity helps fund projects, equipment, research and initiatives that go above and beyond what NHS funding alone can provide.
Among our recent projects are Manchester’s first fully accessible in-hospital cinema, MediCinema, giving patients the chance to enjoy films with family and friends, even if they are bed-bound or rely on essential medical equipment. The charity has also helped fund child-friendly Rocket Scanners, making MRI scans less daunting for young patients while reducing scanning times and helping them receive diagnosis and treatment more quickly.
Angela Rowe, Deputy Director of Manchester Foundation Trust Charity, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised as the ‘Organisation Making a Difference’ at this year’s This is Manchester Awards.
“This award belongs to our incredible community of charity supporters and fundraisers, who make our work possible. From patients and families giving back following their own experiences of care, to our dedicated staff members, individual fundraisers, local community groups, businesses and corporate partners. Every single contribution helps us to make a real difference.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us, given their time, raised vital funds or partnered with us along the way. This award is a wonderful recognition of what we can achieve together, and we couldn’t do what we do without the continued support of our amazing community.”
Emily Harrison, Interim Director of Manchester Foundation Trust Charity, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and a real reflection of the incredible work that goes on across our charity and the wider Trust. We are proud to bring people together around a shared ambition to make healthcare better for patients and their families.
“Through the generosity of our supporters, we can help fund pioneering research, innovative technology and projects that make a real difference to people’s experiences of care. This award is wonderful recognition of that work and will inspire us to continue creating opportunities to improve healthcare across Manchester and beyond.”
