MFT Charity and The Entertainer bring joy to young patients at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

Thursday 01st October 2026

We’ve teamed up with The Entertainer to bring a little extra joy to children and young people at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, as the toy retailer celebrated the opening of its new store at Trafford Centre.

As part of the store’s grand opening on Saturday 12 September, two of our young patients, 14-year-old Liv and 13-year-old Summer, were invited to take part in a special trolley dash.

The pair had the chance to choose toys for themselves, as well as picking out toys and games to bring some extra fun to children and young people spending time on the hospital’s wards.

The trolley dash took place before the new store officially opened its doors, giving Liv and Summer the opportunity to explore the shelves and fill their trolley with some of their favourite toys.

For children and young people in hospital, moments of fun and normality can make a real difference. The toys chosen during the trolley dash will help bring smiles and moments of distraction to patients during their time at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Rachel Laycock, Senior Manager at Manchester Foundation Trust Charity, said:

“Manchester Foundation Trust Charity is delighted to have teamed up with The Entertainer to create this special experience for Liv and Summer, while also bringing some extra joy to children and young people spending time at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

“Being in hospital can be a challenging experience for children and their families, so opportunities to have fun, make choices and create happy memories can be incredibly meaningful.

“It was wonderful to see Liv and Summer enjoying the trolley dash and thinking about the other young patients who would benefit from the toys they chose. We’re incredibly grateful to The Entertainer for helping us create such a memorable experience and for supporting children at our hospital.”
