Online fashion retailer, N Brown Group is supporting its local Children’s Hospital to say thank you for the incredible care given to children injured in the Manchester Arena attack.

The Manchester head-quartered company has donated £50,000 to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity which will go towards purchasing specialist equipment for areas within Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital which treated many of the young children who were injured on the night.

Employees at N Brown Group were passionate to support the hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit which treated a number of the children injured in the attack, purchasing specialist equipment that will help to detect inter-cranial bleeds or bleeds on the brain for some of the hospital’s most seriously ill patients needing neuro-intensive care. Funds donated by the company have also helped to purchase state-of-the art rehabilitation gym equipment which will be used within the children’s Therapy and Dietetics department. The specialist equipment will help the hospital’s young patients to improve function following an injury or illness, as part of their rehabilitation.

Angela Spindler, CEO at N Brown Group, said:

“We were absolutely devastated by the terrible arena attack in our home town of Manchester.  In fact, we have a large contact centre based in the arena so it was incredibly close to home for us.  We all wanted to do something to help.  We were really struck by the incredible work the hospital did for children injured in the attack.  We are delighted to support the continued great work of the RMCH by donating money to help fund specialist equipment to aid the recovery and rehabilitation of the poorly children.”

Therapeutic play is an important aspect of care at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, enabling child development and rehabilitation in many different ways. Money donated by the company has also enabled the hospital to purchase a MEDiRobot which is an innovative form of distraction therapy. The ‘robot’ works as a pain coach and physical companion for children being treated within the hospital for a wide range of procedures.

Joel Oxberry, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital added:

“We’d like to extend a huge thank you to N Brown Group for their incredibly generous donation to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. The specialist equipment this money has enabled us to purchase will make a real and lasting difference to the care and rehabilitation of poorly children at our hospital.

“The amazing work of our hospital has never been more evident than the weeks following the attack, so it’s wonderful to see local businesses wanting to thank and support us. Donations like this are key in helping to provide the most up-to-date equipment to enable the best possible treatment and care to the 260,000 patients which visit our hospital every year.”
