We are proud to highlight our enduring partnership with PG Tips, one of the nation’s most beloved brands, created right here in Manchester. Over the years, PG Tips, have gone above and beyond for our patients, and we are thrilled to celebrate their contributions to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

A Partnership Built on Trust

Our collaboration with PG Tips began in 2002, when their team chose to support Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Since then, they have raised over £58,000 for vital projects that enhance the lives of patients and their families, and donated £28,000 of in-kind support.

PG Tips’ donations have supported Christmas Appeals, refurbished play areas, and contributed to the innovative MFT Youth Service. Their support ensures a brighter, more comfortable environment for patients and their unwavering commitment to our cause has made a lasting difference in countless lives.

Making a Difference

PG Tips has contributed to many initiatives, including the creation of a rooftop garden at the hospital. More recently, they supported the development of a sensory garden designed for patients to enjoy. This unique space features plants and herbs inspired by Shakespearean plays, such as Lavender from A Winter’s Tale, Rosemary from King Lear, and Parsley from The Taming of the Shrew. Solar lights and wind chimes add to the garden’s tranquil ambiance.

Employees from PG Tip’s Trafford Park factory volunteered their time to build the garden, and also provided funding for plants and equipment. A dedicated team of project managers coordinated the logistics for 35+ volunteers who worked together to transform the space. This effort created a vibrant outdoor haven for young patients, making a meaningful impact on their hospital experience.

Supporting Frontline Heroes

During the challenging times of 2020, PG Tips stepped up once again, donating £28,000 worth of items to support hardworking staff at the hospital. This generous gesture boosted morale and provided much-needed wellbeing resources for the hospital’s dedicated frontline workers.

Spreading Festive Cheer

Since 2016, PG Tips has been a key sponsor of our annual Carols in the City event, held in Manchester Cathedral every December. Thousands of attendees have enjoyed their contributions, from tea and mulled wine to festive readings from PG Tips’ colleagues that add to the event’s charm. PG Tips colleagues volunteer each year, managing refreshment stalls and assisting guests at Manchester Cathedral. In 2020, they supported our first-ever virtual event, sending out tea and treats to supporters watching at home online.
