Many of you will have read the recent news about the lightning which struck Trafford General Hospital and caused a fire in the roof on Wednesday, 28th July.

On the afternoon of Thursday, 29th July, Trafford General Hospital Charity set up a JustGiving Page in response to the outpouring of support from members of public who asked how they could help.

Millie Stacey, Director of Trafford General Hospital Charity, said: “We know Trafford General Hospital is very much at the heart of the Trafford community. So we were incredibly touched, but not at all surprised, when some amazing people asked us what they could do to support the hospital at this time.

“The wonderful teams here at Manchester University NHS Foundation trust are rising to the challenge and are meeting the needs of patients as well as ensuring repair work is underway. I would like to emphasise the immediate repair work costs are taken care of and thanks to the hard work of our staff, all services are open despite challenging circumstances.

“However, we wanted to give an outlet to those people who asked how they could support the hospital. We set up the “We Love Trafford Hospital” page to allow people to do this. All funds raised will go wherever the need is greatest at the hospital; funding treatment, research and care projects which will enrich and enhance the experience of patients and their families.

“We would like to thank everyone who has already supported the hospital and continues to do so at this time. It’s very much appreciated and felt by all the hardworking staff who have taken this exceptional week in their stride and made me proud to play my own small part in our NHS family.”
